Due to an outstanding electricity debt of GHc1 million, the Ministry of Finance is scheduled to be cut off from the national grid.
The ministry has been using electricity for the last ten months without paying the monthly bills, which has led to an accumulation of GHc1, 025,918.00.
Furthermore, the ministry has not released funds to pay off debts owed by different municipal and district assemblies.
In order to send the appropriate message to authorities, ECG decided to disconnect the finance ministry because, according to sources within the organization, the problem needs to be tackled from the ground up.
According to information obtained by Citi News, an ECG team is scheduled to meet with Dr. Amin Adam, the Minister of Finance, in order to come to a consensus.
In addition, the ECG is suing Ghana’s Parliament for GHc23 million that is unpaid to the power distributor. In the event that the debt is not paid, the ECG national task force has threatened to disconnect parliament.
