Four people have tragically died in Banda-Nkwanta, a community along the Bole-Bamboi highway in the Bole district of the Savannah Region, at the hands of a man who is thought to be mentally unstable.
The incident is said to have started when the man, identified as Daganaa, went to a nearby galamsey site to unload stuff earlier on Monday and asked to use the restroom at a nearby compound house.
He allegedly reacted violently when he was denied access, stabbing one of the residents before running away to another compound.
He is accused of forcing his way into a sleeping room in the second compound, where two children, ages ten and twelve, and attacking them.
His assault also claimed the life of their frail and immobile grandmother.
Daganaa carried on his murderous rampage, going to another home and stabbing a person who was sleeping in the foyer of the compound. He barricaded himself in a room and threatened anyone who approached him after the residents confronted him.
Residents called the Bole police command for assistance due to the worsening situation.
Daganaa attacked two police officers as soon as they arrived, and they responded by firing shots, killing him.
At the end of the terrifying event, four people had sadly passed away. The elderly grandma is receiving treatment at Carpenter Hospital in Bole after suffering severe injuries.
Since then, the deceased have been buried in accordance with Islamic tradition.
