Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, better known by her stage name Ayra Starr, is a Nigerian music sensation who recently shared her strategy for handling trolls on social media.
The young singer, who is well-known for her chart-topping tunes, discussed her easygoing approach toward critical remarks on social media in an exclusive interview with Cool FM. She emphasized that she left them alone.
“I read stuff and I see stuff, and if it’s bad, I just let them be. I feel like I’m in my ‘let them be’ era and stage. But if it’s stupid, I just block,” she said.
The “Rush” hitmaker claims that with time, she has improved her understanding of social media and has gone a long way. Speaking about the sporadic times when she responded to trolls, Ayra Starr said that it was more for amusement and enjoyment than out of rage.
“I’ve grown so much, and I know that my attention gives things value, so I don’t rate people.
“I feel like I had an era on Twitter just three months ago where I was responding to trolls. Not because I was angry, I was just having fun. I was on my bed with my legs in the sky responding to them. I just let them and I don’t keep things in my mind because I won’t remember in like three hours,” she added.
