Ghanaian actor Richard Kweku Asante, often known as Kalybos, has announced his support for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2020 elections, stating his strong belief in its Free Senior High School (SHS) program.
Kalybos attributed his support for the party to the Free SHS policy’s excellent influence on schooling and financial relief for him and many other Ghanaian parents.
Kalybos emphasized the government’s commitment to education, citing the policy’s role in making education accessible to all and how it has helped him to save money on tuition and instructional supplies. He explained that his support for the NPP was purely based on this policy.
While praising the government’s successes in the education sector, Kalybos voiced concern about the present status of the economy. Recognizing the global economic crisis, he expressed worry over Ghana’s position at the forefront of these issues, which affect the lives of ordinary individuals
“This isn’t the Ghana we all know – the happy citizens who wake up, go to work, and return home with a little in their pockets. While I understand that the economic crisis is a global issue, being at the peak of the problem when the world is in crisis is a cause for alarm,” He added.
According to Kalybos, the country is unable to adequately face and address these economic difficulties, which has a notable impact on the well-being of the typical Ghanaian.
