President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has extended the deadline for KPMG to complete its audit of the transaction between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML) from Tuesday, January 16, 2024 to Friday, February 23, 2024.
This follows KPMG’s appeal to the President for an extension of the two-week timeframe originally set to the corporation to complete the task.
Eugene Arhin, Director of Communications of the Office of the President, in a statement released on Wednesday, stated,
“KPMG is to submit its final report no later than Friday, 23rd February 2024.”
He stated that President Akufo-Addo has also taken note of GRA’s request for permission to maintain the monitoring system established and utilized by SML notwithstanding the suspension of its GRA-related operations.
“The President has denied GRA’s request and has directed that the status quo, with respect to the suspension of the performance of the contract, should remain in effect until the completion of the audit and, subsequent, submission of the audit report by KPMG,” he added.
