Ghana’s prospects of progressing to the next round of the 2023 AFCON have been severely hampered as the Black Stars suffered another late breakdown to draw 2-2 with Mozambique.
Ghana grabbed a 2-0 lead thanks to Jordan Ayew’s two converted penalty kicks, but Geny Catamo and Reinildo Mandava scored in the 91st and 94th minutes, respectively, to wipe away the lead.

Catamo’s penalty shot was granted when the ball struck Black Stars captain Andre Ayew’s hand inside the penalty area.
As a result, Ghana’s hopes of advancing to the next round as one of the top third-placed teams are seriously jeopardized.
The Black Stars have only two points after tying 2-2 with Egypt and losing 1-2 to Cape Verde in their previous games in Group B.
Zambia, Namibia, Tunisia, Cameroon, and Algeria are all in contention to be one of the finest third-place teams.
