The Ashanti regional branch of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has sharply attacked the administration, accusing it of ignoring and marginalizing the Ashanti area in terms of development.
The party explicitly blames President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for what they see as a purposeful lack of attention and resources devoted to the region’s development.
At a Kumasi press conference, NDC Ashanti Region Secretary Frank Amoakohene expressed concern that the Ashanti region is being deliberately denied developmental projects by the government, in contrast to other regions that are experiencing a steady increase in infrastructure development.
Amoakohene expressed his displeasure with the alleged negligence and advised the people to think about unseating the NPP in the next elections in 2024.
He underlined that all of the region’s unfinished projects must be completed as soon as possible by the government.
“We believe that the Ashanti region has been sidelined, so far as development is concerned. And it’s even reflected in his appointments, ministers, Chief Executives and others.
“We believe that this current NPP set-up has nothing to offer the Ashanti region,” the Ashanti Regional Secretary of the NDC said.
