Julius Kojo Antwi, popularly known as “Mr Music Man,” is a legendary Ghanaian Highlife musician and songwriter who recently swore he would never again perform on the National Theatre stage.
The “Afafranto” hitmaker claimed that the National Theatre, which was once a wonderful fit for his early career, no longer fits with his creative objectives in an interview with Nana Adwoa Annan of Onua TV.
He went into detail about how the multipurpose space has not lived up to the standards of a theater, stressing how hard it is becoming for those in charge to keep it maintained. The numerously honored crooner went on to claim that the venue has gotten so bad that he would never be able to perform there.
The renowned highlife musician gives an explanation of his decision.
”The place has fallen short of a theatre…maintaining the place has become difficult for those who are handling the theatre…as the artiste that I am… I realised that the place wasn’t helping me. An artiste doesn’t belong to a hall that the place has become,” He stated.
Mr. Music Man mostly reflected on the small-scale attractiveness of the National Theatre during his early career, but he also stressed that his development as a performer required a larger stage.
