Black Stars defender Alexander Djiku is certain that defeating Egypt in the 2023 AFCON is a difficult but not impossible job.
He stated this in his post-game news conference following Ghana’s 1-2 loss to Cape Verde in the continental tournament opener in Cote D’Ivoire.
Egypt faces Ghana on Thursday, January 18, after drawing 2-2 with Mozambique in the other Group B game; Egypt captain Mohammed Salah equalized from the penalty spot.
“It’s a tough game but nothing is impossible…so we will keep fighting for a win. We conceded a goal in the last minute so everybody is disappointed but it is football… so if we the second game, we can qualify”
Djiku said ahead of the crucial game that Ghana needs to avoid losing to boost its chances of making it to the round of 16 stage.
Ghana crashed out of the 2021 AFCON at the group stage without registering a win.
