Kidi, a Ghanaian music sensation, has joined the chorus of worry about the country’s sale of inferior fuel and its negative impact on consumers’ automobiles.
Kidi expressed his dismay on his X (previously Twitter) handle over the growing incidents of engine and automobile part damage caused by poor-quality fuel distributed at the pumps.
He demanded immediate action to fix the problem and questioned why such inferior fuel was being sold, demanding an answer.
“This bad fuel ruining engines and plugs is becoming a serious pandemic. Something needs to be done ASAP. Why are you selling people bad fuel ????? What is the reason?”He stated.
The Chamber of Petroleum Consumers Ghana (COPEC) highlighted concerns in November about an increasing number of complaints from automobile owners, particularly those who use gasoline, concerning fuel quality issues.

Drivers experienced issues such as delayed acceleration, difficult gear changes, and plug misfiring, which resulted in decreased engine performance. Preliminary research indicated that the gasoline may contain a high manganese level.
In December, users on the X platform continued to express their worries about the harmful impacts of high manganese levels in Ghanaian petrol sold at pumps.
They offered proof of spark plug damage and requested rigorous restrictions, as well as the identification of oil marketing businesses providing gasoline with high manganese levels. The Consul General of Italy in Ghana had identical problems with his brand-new automobile.
COPEC has repeatedly threatened legal action against the National Petroleum Authority if the issue is not resolved quickly, highlighting the critical need of maintaining petroleum product standards.
