Blakk Rasta, a reggae dancehall artist and radio presenter, has pushed transgender celebrity Angel Maxine to reveal the identities of politicians she claims are participating in LGBTQ behaviors.
This follows Angel Maxine’s vow to expose homosexual lawmakers in reaction to Ghana’s Speaker of Parliament’s commitment to enacting the ‘Anti-gay Bill.’
Blakk Rasta, renowned for his outspoken opinions, remembered being summoned to Parliament for comments about people using marijuana in the legislative chamber. He proposed that Angel Maxine be summoned to Parliament in order to uncover the identities of MPs engaging in LGBTQ activities.

During his live program on 3FM, Blakk Rasta expressed support for Angel Maxine’s stance and urged her to provide a list of high-profile persons accused of homosexuality prior to the bill’s passing. He expressed happiness that people are prepared to speak up for their ideas and expose those who chose to remain in the closet.
“Please release the names,” Blakk Rasta said, emphasizing the need of openness. Now. I’m curious about the homosexuals and lesbians who can’t stand out. But they hide out of fear, and their communities suffer as a result.” He advocated for an open discussion about homosexuality, expressing interest in the opinions of people engaged and decrying the claimed secrecy that affects communities.

The 2021 Promotion of Appropriate Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, often known as the ‘Anti-gay Bill,’ proposes to prohibit the promotion, advocacy, funding, and actions of homosexuality in Ghana.
The law imposes harsh penalties, including up to 10 years in jail for LGBTQ+ campaigners and three years for self-identifying persons. While advocates believe that the measure supports traditional values, human rights groups and campaigners, including Rightify Ghana, accuse it of undermining LGBTQ+ rights and hampering HIV/AIDS activities.
Concerns have also been expressed by the international community regarding potential intervention in Ghana’s corporate interests.
