1 Min Read

The Electoral Commission (EC) has disputed claims that it plans to establish 25 additional seats ahead of the 2024 general elections.
On Tuesday, social media was inundated with allegations that the EC intended to create extra seats, a claim that the electoral administration agency refuted.
It instead stated that it aims to establish only one constituency- Guan.
The complete statement from the EC is provided below.

RE: CREATION OF 25 NEW CONSTITUENCIES
The Electoral Commission has been alerted to a media report claiming that 25 new constituencies would be established ahead of the 2024 General Elections.
For the benefit of the general public, the Commission wishes to announce that it is only forming one constituency, the Guan Constituency in the Oti Region. The Commission has not made a judgment on constituencies other than the Guan.
We strongly advise the general public to ignore this message.
