16 alleged drug dealers have been taken into custody by the Eastern Regional Police Command’s Criminal Investigations Department in the Boti neighborhood of the Yilo Krobo Municipality.
At their base, where they grow acres of marijuana in a greenhouse structure, harvest and process it, and then distribute it through middlemen, the suspects were apprehended in an intelligence-led dawn raid.
Along with the plantation, the suspects also run a self-contained apartment where, with the help of three twentysomething women, they package the drug for distribution in bags and sacks.
The 16 suspects, including the three women, are being held at the regional police command in Koforidua Galloway, helping the police with their investigation, according to sources within the command who spoke with Citi News.
According to the authorities, a few prominent figures are funding the accused’ activities.The sources also stated that on Thursday, October 26, the suspects are probably going to be charged in court.
