Fred Kyei Mensah, popularly known as Fredyma, a legendary sound engineer, has disclosed that the viral song “Cobra” was only an experiment.
“Cobra,” initially performed by Obaapa Gladys, a rising Ghanaian singer, has become a social media sensation, with people all over the world taking part in a viral dance competition inspired by the song’s lyrics.
The song, which was originally released in early 2023, remained in the background until late September, when it appeared unexpectedly on TikTok.
The song quickly became popular, with celebrities and regular people alike taking part in the dancing challenge.
Fredyma stated how the song came to be in a Facebook post: “The Cobra song was just an experimental song which I found the lyrics to be funny.”
He went on to say that the song is about the perils of dishonesty and how one person’s words may ruin the life of another.
He also stated that the song’s words, while amusing, should be taken seriously.
