Residents of Ashaiman fear they would be obliged to picket outside the Roads Ministry if their demands for road repairs in the region are not met within the next two months.
Residents claim that Ashaiman’s terrible roads make living difficult for them.
On Tuesday, October 3, residents of Zenu, New York, and Atadeka, all suburbs of Ashaiman in the Greater Accra region, protested the poor condition of their roads and issued the government a two-month deadline to fix them.
Speaking to journalists following the demonstration on Tuesday, Assemblyman for the Nii Kometey Electoral Area, Freeman Jakpo, urged the Ministry of Roads and Highways to listen to them or they will be forced to march to the ministry when the two-month period expires.
“Fixing the roads has been a mirage leaving our health and cars at the mercy of the poor roads and so if within two calendar months, we do not see any action of work within the Municipality, we will organise another march to the Ministry of Roads and Highways.”
