Former Tourism Minister and Chief of Agomeda, Nene Nagai Kassa VIII, also known as Mike Gizo in private, believes the country needs to rethink its leadership system to ensure that responsible individuals are in charge of Ghanaians’ concerns.
He added that Ghana’s current political scene had devolved into a free-for-all, allowing people from all walks of life to become leaders despite their lack of qualifications.
In an interview on Citi TV’s Face to Face on Tuesday, Nene Kasa VIII said, “We are looking at leadership in a certain form.” Sometimes I wake up and hear that everyone is running for an MP, DCE, or Minister. It is now open to all.”
“I think we should go back and look at the people that we are producing for our leadership. You can’t do this in other places except for Africa and Ghana.”
He also debunked rumors that E.T. Mensah was a “bossy” individual, explaining that his demeanor was consistent with his profession.
In a loving homage to the late Council of State member, Nene Nagai Kassa VIII, he was regarded as a hardworking politician with exceptional organizational skills.
“ET Mensah was a very active person, very knowledgeable, he was a grassroots man. Even though he was a top man, his organisational capacity was something because he could organise a thousand people for you within just a few minutes. He knew how to deal with the grassroots, he knew how to talk to people. Later on, people thought he was somehow a bit bossy, but it came with the work.”
