Adina, a popular Ghanaian singer and composer, has vowed unequivocally that she will never exploit sex to market her music.
She feels that maintaining decency may be just as effective in the entertainment sector in terms of garnering sales and attention.
Adina stated in an interview with Graphic Showbiz that she will not sacrifice her ideals in order to gain success.
She also stated that she will rely on her talent and values rather than flashing skin to gain attention and keep her relevance.
“I won’t succumb to indecency just to get attention or stay relevant in the industry. Decency sells too, and it’s a choice I am proud to make,” she said.
She ascribed her commitment to projecting decency and real self-expression to her history and conviction in the power of personal branding, noting that her brand is founded on the values and image she currently conveys.
I am not pressured to conform to any immoral standards to sell my craft. My training even won’t allow it, and it is a personal decision too.
“People want a certain image, and when they think of branding and getting people to know them, they think of going with what is making everyone popular, like what we see on our screens. Mine is what you are seeing now. I have tried mine and it’s working for me,”
Adina elaborated.
Adina is a multi-award-winning female singer. At the 2018 Vodaphone Music Awards in Ghana, her song “Too Late” earned her two awards: record of the year and female vocalist of the year.
