Pep Guardiola dismissed suggestions Manchester City were complacent after suffering their first Premier League loss of the season in a 2-1 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Wolves had led in the first half through a Ruben Dias own goal before Julian Alvarez equalised for City after the break. Wolves restored their advantage on 66 minutes through Hwang Hee-chan to inflict City to back-to-back defeats following Wednesday’s Carabao Cup loss to Newcastle.
“You have to ask other people what they think about that (complacency),” Guardiola told Sky Sports.
“When you win four Carabao Cups in a row and the Premier League and a Treble it is not complacency. Sometimes the players can do better than you and beat you and that is what you can do today.
“We were well set up but we did not defend properly these situations. They beat us in the one-v-one and that is not good and we have to do it properly.
“We have to do more but even when we win we have to do more.”
