In connection with the suspected rape and murder of an 18-year-old apprentice in Anwiankwanta, which is located in the Bekwai Municipality of the Ashanti Region, two people have been detained.
The victim apparently interacted with these two people just before she tragically passed away, according to Bekwai’s Municipal Chief Executive, Kwaku Kyei Baffour, who presided over a municipal security meeting on the tragedy.
He expressed hope in the Ghana Police Service’s ongoing investigation and their determination to hold the offenders accountable.

“They can run, but they cannot hide,” the Ashanti region’s Municipal Chief Executive for Bekwai said.
Only a few meters from her home, her lifeless body was found in an unfinished structure.
According to eyewitnesses, Georgina Agyemang’s corpse was discovered with apparent bruises and was found to be partially undressed, raising questions about a possible rape and murder.
Frank Awuah, the assemblyman representing the region, recognized the rising anxiety and stress in the neighborhood and emphasized the need for the community to take action to improve security.
“About three months ago, the same incident happened where a three-month-old baby was killed, a mother and a baby were also killed. So it has been occurring, something that we need to find a solution to. Yes, we are living in fear because…people have been moving from this area to the main town. They are in fear, they are afraid that it will happen again.
“For security service, we don’t meet the international standard as a country, so we need to support the security services as citizens by volunteering,” he opined.
