The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has stated that it would rigorously adhere to the laws and regulations regulating its November 4 primaries, and that any violations documented in the August 26 Super Delegate’s Congress will not be tolerated.
Professor Michael Oquaye, Chairman of the NPP Presidential Elections Committee, stated that the party is simplifying and strengthening the procedures, notably those regulating proxies, to guarantee fair and transparent primaries.
“We know there have been a lot of problems about proxies where people sometimes come and no one can really tell until the last minute and we are going to resolve this a month before the elections,” Oquaye stated.
Oquaye stated that the NPP is dedicated to ensuring that the primaries on November 4 are free, fair, and credible, and that the party would win the elections regardless of who is election
“In fact, we are streamlining and tightening the rules in such a way that at the end of the day, the NPP will win, and not any particular person so that at the end of the day, it is clear and plain,” Oquaye went on to say.
Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, former Agriculture Minister Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and former Mampong MP Addai Nimo are all running for the party’s flagbearer position.
