Participate in the limited voter registration exercise – Bawumia to Ghanaians

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President of Ghana, has urged eligible Ghanaians, especially those who have just turned 18 and adults who have not yet registered, to take advantage of the Limited Voter Registration operation, which began on Tuesday, September 12.
The practice is being carried out across the country at all Electoral Commission district offices. Dr. Bawumia stressed that the basic right to vote begins with the duty of registering with the Electoral Commission (EC), and he encouraged individuals to actively engage in the process to assure their eligibility for the future elections in 2024.
Dr. Bawumia shared this statement on Facebook, emphasizing the importance of civic participation and voter registration in allowing residents to exercise their democratic right to vote.
Despite an injunction request by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and four other political parties, the Electoral Commission will hold the Limited Voters Registration Exercise on September 12.

Registration is underway at all 268 District Offices. The exercise is set to go through October 2, 2023, according to the EC.
Eligible persons who have turned 18 since the previous registration in 2020, or those who did not register for a variety of reasons, are invited to visit their local District Office.
They will need either their Ghana Card or their Ghana Passport to register. In the event that qualified applicants lack certain identity documents, they might be vouched for by two registered voters to assist their registration.
On September 7, the NDC, CPP, All People’s Congress, Liberal Party of Ghana, and Great Consolidated Popular Party filed a lawsuit contesting the EC’s decision to confine voter registration to its district offices.
They contend that this judgment will disenfranchise many eligible voters, especially those living in rural regions.
