Ama Governor’s chances of becoming a lawyer have improved dramatically when the General Legal Council granted her permission to seek for admission to the Bar.
Despite successfully graduating, the YouTuber and social media personality made headlines earlier this year when she was not featured in the list of attorneys who were called to the Bar.This came when an unidentified individual petitioned the General Legal Council to exclude Ama Governor from the exclude because of her “conduct.”
In a recent release summarizing its findings for the 2022/23 legal year, the Council stated that Ama Governor, whose actual name is Elorm Ababio, may now “complete appropriate forms for application to be called to Bar in October/November 2023.”
According to the statement, the Council would “monitor and observe the student’s conduct during the time leading up to the submission of the application to be called to the Bar.”
It went on to say that if Ama Governor is admitted to the Bar, she would “be required to give a special undertaking to be of good behavior and not to repeat any conduct which may bring the profession into disrepute.”

On November 1, 2022, Council received a misconduct complaint against one of the students, saying that the student was seen on widely distributed recordings engaging in behaviour unbecoming of an applicant-in-waiting-to-be-called-to-the-Bar.

Following review of the report, Council resolved to allow the student to complete the necessary documents for admission to the Bar in October/November 2023, and that
The student’s behaviour will be monitored and observed by Council during the period leading up to the submission of the application to be called to the Bar.
If the application to be called to the Bar is successful, the student will be asked to offer a particular assurance to be of good behavior and not repeat any conduct that may bring the profession into shame while registered on the roll of Lawyers in Ghana. As a result, a letter was issued to the student to communicate Council’s conclusions.”
