Former Finance Minister and National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer aspirant Dr. Kwabena Duffuor has stated that he will actively campaign for former President and NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama in the 2024 presidential elections.
The former governor of the Bank of Ghana said that he will be a major member of the main opposition party’s 2024 election campaign to unseat the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He told Bernard Avle on Citi TV’s The Point of View that he will absolutely campaign for John Mahama “because he must win” and that the NDC will undoubtedly win the 2024 elections.
“I am confident that we are winning because we are working and the NPP has been on for seven years and has done little but our performance has been the best since independence. Between 2009 and 2012, our performance has been the best since independence.”
“Between 2009 and 2012, our indicators were first class. Interest rates were the lowest in forty years. Our GDP was 14.5% in 2011 excluding the oil sector.”
Mr. Duffour’s bid to head the NDC came to an end when he dropped out of the party’s flagbearer competition.
He accused the party’s leadership of breaking a prior agreement and guarantee provided to the then-three presidential candidates to rectify the problems highlighted regarding the register before the election.
He also sought to halt the May 13 primaries by filing an interlocutory order against the polls, but backed down later.
