Fameye, a singer from Ghana, is tired of hearing comparisons between the music scenes in Ghana and Nigeria all the time.
Following Nigerian artist Asake’s spectacular London O2 Arena performance, social media has gone wild.
Asake’s outstanding performance at the O2 Arena sparked a heated discussion on the differences between Nigerian and Ghanaian music, eliciting a range of responses from artists and industry experts.
Musicians and businesspeople alike have voiced their perspectives on the subject, including Fameye, who believes that frequent comparison and criticism from fans has diminished the value of artists in Ghana.
Fameye claims that the incessant “name-and-shame” has made Ghanaian artists despondent and angry.
He voiced his displeasure in a tweet on how the frequent comparisons had diminished the value of musicians in Ghana. He said, “You people, especially for this App, take agenda against all the value & worth of Artiste in this nation, depress & frustrate us!!!”
On Sunday night, Ahmed Oloade, also known as Asake, made history by being the first Nigerian newcomer to sell out the 20,000-seat O2 Arena in London, United Kingdom.
One of the concert’s main attractions was Asake’s entrance, which took place during his most recent performance at the 02 and saw the singer coming on stage from a helicopter in the midst of the audience.
A medley of songs from his first album, “Mr. Money With The Vibe,” and his second album, “Work Of Art,” were performed by him.
