Residents of Amuzukope and Nurses Quarters, which are located between the municipalities of Awutu Senya East and Ga South, have blamed recent flooding on developer blocking of rivers.
The citizens are anxious that the government are ignoring the problem.
Residents of Nurses Quarters and Amuzukope tremble whenever black clouds form. They have yet to recover from the June 21, 2023 flood, which nearly washed away some residents of the village and ruined everything.
It was a life-threatening situation for youngsters, the elderly, and especially pregnant women. Rescuers from the community had to band together to save thirteen people from the water, including a mom and her three children who were in serious condition during the rain.
The floodwaters reached the windows of the buildings and covered practically all of the personal possessions of the tenants in their rooms.
Residents are still counting their losses days after the massive storm.
Contractors built an additional bridge to supplement an existing one while building the Kasoa-Ashalaja road.

However, a few persons have obstructed the ancient bridge with concrete walls and automobile tires. They have since constructed on top of it.
Residents claim that after informing the officials of the two Assemblies, the Awutu Senya East and Ga South Municipal Assemblies, no appropriate action has been done.
There has been no assistance from any relief organization.
There has also been no official visit to the hamlet to examine the impact of the flooding on the residents. Residents are concerned about the situation.
Odikro Heykpa, Chief of Amuzukope, encourages the State Assemblies to take action by destroying structures placed in rivers to avert future flooding.
“We are pleading with the authorities to take action by demolishing structures built on waterways,” he stated.
