Alan Kyerematen, a presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has stated that Ghana requires a leader who embodies the Christian religion in order to achieve major progress in its development process.
According to him, the country does not want a president who is simply a Christian by name, but rather someone who is willing to govern in the manner of Jesus Christ, the Lord and Saviour of Christians.
Speaking at the Parliament Chapel International (PCI)’s ‘Mpaebo Kesie’ prayer session on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, Mr Kyeremateng stated that it was for this reason that he began his presidential campaign with a call to all Christian leaders in Ghana.
“When I was starting (my presidential bid) I called all the church leaders for a breakfast meeting. After that, I also did a Thanksgiving service.
“…I did this because I have come to realize that Ghana needs not just a Christian leader but a Christ-like leader. There is a difference between a Christian leader and a Christ-like leader,” he said.

Mr. Kyerematen shed light on the characteristics that define a Christlike leader. Alan defines Christlike Leadership as a transformative leader, a servant leader, a compassionate leader, a Shepherd leader, and an ethical leader.
Mr Kyeremateng, a former trade and industry minister, consequently requested that the founder and head of the Parliament Chapel International, Prophet Amoako Attah, pray for him in order for him to become a Christ-like leader.
Mr Kyerematen was joined by Nana Ohene-Ntow, Hon Yaw Buaben Asamoa, Hon Adomako Kissie, Hon Frank Agyekum, and a slew of other dignitaries.
He also expressed gratitude to the pastor for his prayers and support for his presidential campaign.
