Rapper Sarkodie has come under fire from social media star Twene Jonas for using his greatest rhymes to criticize Yvonne Nelson rather than addressing the problems with the current administration.
Yvonne Nelson was the target of Sarkodie’s most recent song, “Try Me,” which was directed at the actress and was in response to claims made in her book, I Am Not Yvonne Nelson, about a terminated pregnancy involving the rapper. Jonas, who is well known for his outspoken opinions on social and political matters, expressed disappointment in the rapper.
Sarkodie was blasted by Jonas for allegedly exploiting his talent to manipulate Ghanaians into supporting President Akufo-Addo, whom he says is to blame for the current country’s problems. The vocal critic cast doubt on the rapper’s commitment to the people while drawing attention to the continued hardships and suffering in Ghana caused by the current administration.
“So Sarkodie, you can rap like this and you made Ghanaians vote for President Akufo-Addo as president. See how people are suffering because of your song ‘Happy Day’,” he said.
He chastised Sarkodie for not using his platform to promote reform since he felt that the rapper’s support of the government contributed to the continuation of challenges.
