A young man is in police detention after reportedly killing his girlfriend in Trom, a neighborhood of Koforidua in the Eastern Region’s New Juaben South Municipality.
According to the deceased young lady’s co-tenants, the incident occurred on Saturday when the lady went outside to meet the young man, who then entered the compound with the young lady.
According to her co-tenants, the young girl was a former student of Koforidua Ghanass and a Suhum local.
She was working as a bartender at a renowned bar in the neighborhood called. She moved from Koforidua Betom to Trom Junction 5 about a year ago when a young man threatened to harm her if she ended their relationship.
It is unknown what motivated the young man to murder his lover.
According to accounts, he bound her lips, shoved material into her mouth, and then cut her throat. The young lady’s fight went unnoticed by her neighbors, who were preoccupied with a naming ceremony taking place in the courtyard at the time of the murder.
After perpetrating the alleged murder, the young guy mounted the wall, dropped his weapon, and later that night reported himself to authorities.
As part of their investigation, officers went to the scene on Sunday with the suspect to collect inventory.
However, they had to take the guy away swiftly after detecting danger from the enraged throng that was preparing to attack him.
The body of the young lady, thought to be in her early twenties, has subsequently been deposited in the mortuary at the Eastern Regional Hospital.
