According to Shatta Wale’s former manager Bullgod, after working with the dancehall musician for the first six months, he wanted to leave because he didn’t understand him.
The former manager of Shatta Wale, known as Bullgod, revealed in a candid interview with Ato Kwamina D’Gem on the Entertainment Review Show broadcast on Connect FM that he found it difficult to understand Shatta Wale’s conduct and activities.
Bullgod had a nuanced response when asked if Shatta Wale was the most difficult musician he has worked with, saying, “I will say yes and no.”
He went into detail about the difficulties of the profession, emphasizing the significance of coming to the studio to record, promoting works, and filming videosall common tasks that did not provide particularly challenging tasks. But he found the extra elements to be the most difficult.
Bullgod continued by saying that he found it difficult to handle Shatta Wale’s erratic remarks and the ensuing media backlash. He cited occasions where he had to deal with crisis management only to get calls from other media outlets as a result of Shatta Wale making contradictory claims elsewhere.
There was little time for actual work because of all the firefighting, which was exhausting for Bullgod.
Bullgod acknowledged that, looking back on those early times, he had a hard time comprehending Shatta Wale’s strategy. He did, however, admit that he persisted because they hadn’t yet met their goals.
While winning was not guaranteed owing to voting and other circumstances, Bullhaus Entertainment set performance standards, including receiving nominations in prominent award schemes during the first year.
Bullgod and his team had first considered quitting within six months, but it wasn’t until Shatta Wale won his first award that they made the decision to stick with him.
Bullgod’s behind-the-scenes struggles provided insight into the complex mechanics of artist management. Despite the challenges, Shatta Wale’s success ultimately validated their choice to persevere, highlighting the fortitude of the musician and his former manager.
