Akwaboah Jnr, an award-winning Ghanaian highlife singer, has lost his father, Kwadwo Akwaboah Snr.
On Tuesday, May 16, the artist announced the news on Instagram with the post “RIP Daddy.”
Kwadwo Akwaboah is well known as the singer of the hit song “Awerekyekyere,” which he recently reworked alongside his son, Akwaboah Jnr.
The song’s reworking, which was backed by a superbly recorded studio performance, drew a lot of attention and received a lot of broadcast.
Akwaboah Snr. was also an accomplished keyboardist who performed with numerous local and international bands.
Prior to his death, the icon had lost his eyesight, but in a handful of social media videos, he was still seen playing musical instruments. The cause of his death is unknown.
Kwadwo Akwaboah, also known as Akwaboah Senior, is a veteran highlife legend and record producer, as well as the father of Akwaboah Junior, a highlife performer. Kwadwo Akwaboah is well-known for his song “Awerekyekyere,” which drew a lot of attention and received a lot of airtime in Ghana. Akwaboah Jnr currently has a remix of his father’s popular tune, “Awerekyekyere,” which has a music video featuring his father.
