History made! Barcelona vs Wolfsburg becomes first sold out Women’s Champions League final with more records to come

1 Min Read

The 2022-23 Women’s Champions League final between Barcelona and Wolfsburg has become the first to sell out since the competition’s rebrand in 2009
UEFA announced the news on Tuesday, with over 34,100 tickets issued for the showpiece event at PSV Eindhoven’s Philips Stadion. It means that a new record for a women’s football match in the Netherlands is anticipated, with that previously set back in 2019 when the Dutch national team played Australia at the same stadium and attracted 30,640 fans.

Barcelona will be attempting to win their second Champions League trophy when the event takes place, after reaching their fourth final in five years. Meanwhile, Wolfsburg is aiming for their third title and first since 2014.
Both clubs will be hoping to enter the final in excellent form. Barcelona is riding high after winning their fourth consecutive league title, but Wolfsburg seems ready to lose theirs to Bayern Munich after a 4-0 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt this weekend.
