The Ghanaian socialite Hajia 4Reall is scheduled to be released on home detention but will wear a GPS ankle monitor since she is being investigated in the US for a romance scam.
The 30-year-old influencer was extradited from the UK to the US for allegedly committing a despicable lonely hearts scam in which she defrauded elderly, single Americans out of $2 million. According to the United States Attorney’s Office, she is being investigated for her involvement in several romantic fraud schemes as well as for laundering the money from those frauds.
If found guilty of the accusations, which include wire fraud, money laundering, receiving stolen property, and conspiracy, Hajia 4Reall could spend up to 20 years in jail.
She entered a not guilty plea to each allegation during her first court appearances in the US, according to the New York Post.
According to Hajia 4Reall’s attorney, who was also quoted in the paper, she would be “released on home detention to her aunt’s New Jersey residence in the coming days on $500,000 bond, with GPS tracking via an ankle monitor.”
Six claimed victims were mentioned by Hajia 4Reall’s attorney, Adam Cortez, in the statement.
Only two of the six putative victims dealt with a woman, and only one of them claims to have dealt with Ms. Montrage, according to what we now know, he added.
In the meantime, according to a statement from the Southern District of New York’s US Attorney’s Office, she is accused of defrauding one of her victims by faking a marriage.
