Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has announced that left-back Eduardo Camavinga is fit to face Manchester City in the Champions League.
Camavinga took a knock in Madrid’s La Liga match against Getafe and was spotted needing an ice pack on his knee, raising concerns that he would not be available for Madrid’s key match on Wednesday. Camavinga, on the other hand, is ready to go for the second leg, according to Modric.
“He is OK and he’s going to play, that’s the most important thing,” Modric said in a press conference. “Since he’s arrived he’s grown a lot, he has proven that he can play very well at left-back. He doesn’t like playing there but he’s doing well and I hope that wherever he plays he does well tomorrow.”
Camavinga started the opening leg and assisted Vinicius Junior after running approximately 60 yards from left back. He did, however, have a hand in City’s lone goal, handing the ball away in the buildup to Kevin De Bruyne’s equalizer.
Camavinga is expected to start on Wednesday, possibly at left-back, where he will aim to continue his good form.
