A Nigerian musician will receive this honor for the first time this year.
Tiwa Savage, a well-known Nigerian vocalist, has been invited to sing at King Charles III of Britain’s impending coronation.
The historic event will occur at Westminster Abbey in London on Saturday, May 6, 2023.
Tiwa Savage will be joining a star-studded lineup of performers, who will amuse guests during the coronation concert and Big Lunch on Sunday, May 7, 2023, including Steve Winwood, DJ Pete Tong, Lang Lang, Lucy, Paloma Faith, and Olly Murs.
After his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, passed away, King Charles III and his Queen Consort, Camilla, officially ascended to the throne during the coronation ceremony.

As the first Nigerian musician to receive this honor, Tiwa Savage’s invitation to play at the coronation is an amazing accomplishment.
Tiwa Savage was picked as one of the few African singers to perform at the historic coronation concert, according to a statement issued by the organizers.
“We are excited to announce that Tiwa Savage will be performing at the coronation concert alongside other world-class musicians. Tiwa Savage is a superb performer that combines African and Western sounds in a singular way. We are sure that her performance will liven up the occasion and make it more exciting,” the statement said.
Numerous street parties will be held throughout the UK as part of the celebrations, along with a volunteer recruitment drive.
