Ghanaian artist Kuami Eugene has disclosed his reasons for turning down Guru’s offer to collaborate.
Eugene claims that Guru treated him and his entire family with disdain, which is a trait he absolutely detests.
In 2021, Guru attacked Kuami Eugene on social media and dropped the song “Who Born Dog?” in protest over the latter’s refusal to work on a song with him.
In a series of tweets, Guru also accused Kuami Eugene of being ungrateful and warned him of the repercussions his eventual departure from Lynx would have on his Karma.
Eugene provided an explanation for why a partnership had not materialized at the time, stating: “Guru did not use the right channel. You want to feature me but you go to media houses to insult the man who made me
“I wouldn’t have been Kuami Eugene but for Richie; so I expect that respect is accorded him no matter the differences that exist. I am under Lynx Entertainment and any song I produce needs to go through them.” Eugene stated that he didn’t anticipate Guru to go off on that tangent, especially since the rapper is an adult, on the April 30, 2023 episode of The Delay Show.
“He is quick-tempered,” said Kuami Eugene. “It was a problem I wished they could have just solved it as elders in the industry.” It is problematic, he continued, for Guru to have attacked Eugene’s neighbors.“I didn’t have a problem with Guru but now, I have a problem with him because he has offended my family. He spent time in the studio to insult me and a man who claimed to be my father. Guru is a grown-up so I didn’t expect him to behave in that manner,” Eugene said.
Guru and Riche fell out after Guru wanted a feature with either KiDi or Kuami Eugene but was turned down.
As a result, Guru went to several media sites and disparaged Richie and other Lynx management personnel.
When asked in an interview if he would feature Guru, Kuami Eugene declined because of the disrespect Guru had showed for his boss, according to Richie, who stated that he and his team had decided to remain silent.
Richie supported Eugene’s remark, claiming that it wasn’t rude and that he would have reprimanded his artist if he had interjected inappropriately.
