Fuse ODG, a British-Ghanaian artist, has advised Ghana’s music business to focus on fostering and promoting its homegrown talent rather than looking for approval from abroad.
Speaking on Joy Prime’s Prime Morning, he suggested that the industry concentrate on cultivating this talent to establish a thriving local music scene and that Ghana has a lot of musical ability that needs recognition and support.
“I always say that we shouldn’t be looking outside for validation, Ghana has too much talent to be getting distracted.”
“There are certain conversations that I feel it’s not necessary, we need to just continue working, just keep our heads down and just keep pushing and keep working, that’s what we need to do as an industry,” he said.
The UK-based artist further urged the sector to unite and foster mutual trust, saying that doing so would help them improve their networking abilities.
“I’ve also said we need to spend more time together because that’s how we’re able to build trust amongst each other, so then we’re able to share networks”.
“And I’m trying my best for us to also spend time when I’m around as well,” he stated.
Fuse ODG has been a major proponent of the idea that Ghana’s distinctive culture and self-belief are crucial to its success in many sectors, including luring tourists to the country. He has been outspoken about promoting Ghanaian music and culture.
