Kelvyn Boy, a Ghanaian Afrobeats performer, recently discussed the booming situation of the music business.
He stated during the interview on Joy Prime that the nature of the business has changed to the point where he no longer needs to put on a lot of performances in order to make a living.
The way music enthusiasts now consume music has changed, he continued, with streaming becoming a more common practice.
“Even when I sleep, I make money. That is how it’s supposed to be. I don’t have to be in their faces before you know I am getting there.
“I am beginning to move right. If you do that, you don’t need 10 shows to be okay. You don’t need to come here all the time, otherwise, it won’t make sense to the people [SIC],” he said.
Even if they are not actively involved in the music scene, Kelvyn Boy advised his peers to position their works to make money.
He underlined the value of making the proper moves and not just depending on routine performances.
Kelvyn Boy also discussed the shifting perspectives in the music business, where the emphasis is now on creating stunning and powerful songs rather than simply any sound.
“A lot of things have changed, how they consumed the music and how to get attention has changed. I am hearing a lot of beautiful songs, it’s not like before when any song can blow,” he added.
