Bridget Otoo has joined others in condemning the cruelty to which certain Ashainman people were subjected by military officers.
Military soldiers brutalize Ashaiman villagers following the supposed murder of a fellow officer by people in the area.
The tale would have been different if the incident had occurred in East Legon, according to the Ghanaian broadcaster.
Bridget Otoo expressed her displeasure at the military officers’ actions, saying the people of Ashaiman do not deserve such treatment.
“Forget Ashaiman for a second and insert east legon. A soldier is killed there & as a result the military goes to east legon and assault residents of east legon. It’s Ashaiman so you think they deserve it. We are not being ruled by Military. Or Police no longer investigate crime?” she said in a twitter post.
An unofficial curfew was imposed on the Ashaiman village this morning, March 7, 2023, after some military soldiers attacked the region over the reported death of one of their comrades.
Over the weekend, reports surfaced that an unidentified assailant had killed a uniformed soldier in Ashaiman.
A gang of soldiers assaulted the community in the early hours of Tuesday morning, while the rain was pouring, to exact revenge on civilians.
At several times in viral social media videos, the military can be seen beating up citizens.
Another video showed the streets of Ashaiman deafeningly quiet, with many people hiding in their rooms in dread of the army.
Meanwhile, several Ghanaians have responded to the military’s assault of Ashaiman on social media.
While some decried the soldiers’ behavior in beating up citizens, others supported their use of such methods to find the murderers.
