Sista Afia is upset that some Ghanaian TikTok stars are charging outrageous fees to promote Ghanaian songs.
The Ghanaian singer shared her experience, stating that Ghanaian TikTok influencers freely dance to Nigerian music but will end up charging a Ghanaian artiste since they exploit their tunes to produce content.
“It’s really sad. Fine, you need to earn from your efforts but I have observed something on that side. They don’t promote our own as much as the Nigerians. It baffles me,” she said.
“Anytime I see a dance thing, it’s normally a Nigerian tune. Fine, maybe the Nigerian tune is the one that is widespread so maybe they [local influencers] use it to gather likes and views [to their channels] but we can start from there,” she added.

Sista Afia of Ghanaweb reported that an influencer would ask an artiste to pay “GHS20,000 for simply TikTok and those things and then you look to the person’s profile and you’d be like: ‘GHS20,000, I can give it to you but I don’t see any profit coming out of it.'”
“Everyone is charging for their services right now, which is OK, but when you’re advertising, push ours [Ghanaians] more because if you look at the dance challenges right now, the most of them are dancing Nigerian music.
They don’t do our own, and if you hire them, they’ll charge you a lot of money “She grumbled.
