Chelsea reportedly convened a crisis meeting this week amid reports that Graham Potter’s position in the dugout was under jeopardy.
As reported by the Evening Standard, talks have been taking place at Chelsea between Potter and members of his first-team staff in an attempt to halt the team’s terrible recent run and turn their situation around.
The Chelsea manager saw his team lose to bottom-placed Southampton last time out and has spoken with his coaching staff about tactics to improve performances as well as the need to enhance players’ confidence and elevate the squad’s low morale.
Potter’s position as manager is not yet jeopardized because co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali are not sure he is the issue.
Yet, the Chelsea manager has freely confessed that he is under pressure following a run of only nine wins in 25 games.
Chelsea’s owners are understood to be ready to be patient with Potter for the time being, but will want to see results, especially after backing a £600 million January shopping binge that brought in players such as Nacho Fernandez, Mykhailo Mudryk, Noni Madueke, and Benoit Badiashile.
Chelsea have only scored six goals in their last 11 Premier League games, the fewest since the beginning of November (when the Blues’ slide began).
In fact, the Blues have only scored more than one goal in one of their last 14 league games (2-0 vs Bournemouth).
The Blues will look to get back on track against Tottenham in the Premier League on Sunday.
