Mr. Logic, the artist manager, has stated that Highlife has the ability to help put Ghanaian music on the world map in the same way that Nigerian music has.
Nigerians have been wise enough to see that Afrobeat is their sort of music, and they are doing very well in that even though they have participated in Highlife, the young people there have started pushing Afrobeat.
“The Nigerians were wise enough to see that Afrobeat was their music, even though they borrowed some of it from Highlife, and the young ones began pushing Afrobeat,” he contended.
He refuted the claim that Hiplife is Ghana’s indigenous music, claiming that Hiplife evolved from Highlife.
He went on to say that if we were to put Ghana on the same map as Nigeria, our language should be Highlife.
We would not be able to progress without it.
He has been quite clear in everything he has said.
“If we want to put Ghana on the map like Nigerians, please use Highlife; otherwise, we won’t get anywhere,” he continued.
Ghana and Nigeria have been at odds for many years regarding who does what best.
In contrast to Ghana, Nigeria has recently made significant strides in the music industry.
