Gabriel Jesus has returned to Arsenal to continue his recovery from knee surgery in December.
Due to an injury incurred while representing his country in Qatar, the Brazilian striker has not played for Arsenal since before the World Cup.
He had surgery in London before Christmas and has been gradually regaining fitness ever since, with the forward currently walking without crutches or a knee brace.
Jesus was in England last month working with Arsenal’s medical team and attended the Gunners’ 3-2 win over Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium on January 22.
He subsequently flew overseas to continue his recuperation, but he has now returned to London to make a significant stride forward in his recovery.
Jesus returned to Arsenal’s London Colney training facility on Tuesday, and the 25-year-old is now following a meticulously thought out fitness programme alongside the club’s medical experts with the goal of returning to action next month.
He may now perform some light ball work on the training pitch, but the main focus of his recovery right now is on strengthening his knee.
Arsenal has been hesitant to set a timetable on Jesus’ comeback, but he has always hoped to be back on the field in time to play a significant role in the season’s final stages.
The Gunners face Brentford on Saturday, trying to get back on track in the Premier League after losing to Everton.
