The Twifo Atti Mokwa District of the Central Region is seeing steady development in the construction of the Twifo Praso bridge and approach roads. China Railway Number Five Company Limited is working on the project, which is scheduled to be finished in March of next year. The bridge’s construction is anticipated to be finished by the end of December, connecting Twifo-Praso with some other communities and districts.
The government committed to enhancing the nation’s trunk road infrastructure, which included the GH39,954,066.09 project. It would take the place of the currently used, frequently maintained, one-way directional rail/road steel bridge.
According to Bashiru-Deen Tahiru, resident engineer for the Ghana Highway Authority, the bridge is more than 90% finished. He explained that a cemetery’s position along the road caused the construction of the 1.6 km approach road to stall at one point.
To ensure that work on the approach roads could restart, he said the contractor was scheduled to move the cemetery within the next week. He also added that this would allow the contractor to continue his job and ensure an early finish. We anticipate the contractor completing the project on schedule, he said. Work on the 1.6-kilometer approach road to link the bridge on the course.
To offer a sturdy and high-quality framework to ensure high safety requirements, he said that the bridge will only be utilized for traffic and pedestrian transportation. He believed it would also offer a high caliber of service, improving the socioeconomic conditions of the local populace in the process.
According to John Wang, the quantity surveyor of China Railway Number Five Engineering Ghana Limited, the project was impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak. The corporation, he said, was certain that the bridge would be finished by the end of December. The adjacent roads connecting the bridge would also be finished by March of next year, he added in his statement. He said they were dedicated to guaranteeing the implementation of a great project.
