Lydia Forson, an actress, has descended on the Pentecost Church to declare three days of fasting in order to stabilize the Ghana cedi. The Chairman of the Church has asked members of the Church of Pentecost to begin fasting and praying on Thursday, November 1.
Members are to pray and intercede for the nation and the world community in the midst of economic challenges, according to a statement signed by Apostle Eric Nyamekye.
The whole statement is available below:
“The fasting and prayers, which are set to end on Sunday, November 13, will be held under the theme, ‘So we fasted and petitioned our God about this, and He heard our prayer.'”
(Ezra 8:23), all assemblies have been instructed to go about their current weekly programs; nevertheless, these prayer and fasting sessions may be combined with any existing weekly program.
“All Area Heads and Ministers are to participate and organize these sessions at any convenient level that will generate the best results,” the communique continued.
In a series of tweets in response to the directive, the actress questioned why the church didn’t utilize its position to hold the government accountable beyond fasting and prayers.
According to the actress, prayer is important, but the church must also utilize its platform to lobby for improved living conditions for residents.
She believes the church should utilize its platform to hold the government accountable rather than leveraging its influence for its own benefit.
The ‘Keteke’ movie actress believes that the church no longer follows a moral code or cares for the people as it once did.
According to her, times have changed and no one can expect the church to show true concern for people.
