Hasan Salihamidzic, Bayern Munich’s sporting director, has stated the club’s wish to maintain Cameroon striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.
Choupo-contract Moting’s expires at the conclusion of the season, and while the player has expressed interest in staying in Bavaria, the club appears to be content with him signing a new agreement.
“He provides us something like a nine,” Salihamidzic said on Sky, according to Bild.
“We’d really like to keep him. I have an excellent rapport with his counsel. We’ll meet and see if we can make him happy. He’s a tremendous win for us right now, the way he’s playing. He’s a fantastic man, which is why we hired him. I’m glad he’s here, and I’m even happier if he remains.”
Choupo-Moting joined Bayern from PSG in the summer of 2020, and he has 28 goals in 72 games.
The 33-year-old Cameroon international has scored in seven consecutive games, bringing his season total to ten, which is already one more than his previous two seasons when he only managed nine.
Choupo-Moting scored twice in Bayern’s 3-2 win against Hertha Berlin over the weekend, his fifth goal in the Bundesliga, moving him into third place behind juvenile revelation Jamal Musiala, who has eight goals, and Sadio Mane, who has six.
