According to TotalEnergies’ latest advertised prices at the pumps on November 1, 2022, the price of diesel has increased to GH23.49 per litre.
Petrol is also selling for GH17.99 per litre, while kerosene costs GH14.70.
Ghanaians will have to spend more money on fuel and goods as a result of this development.
The Institute for Energy Security predicted the new prices (IES). The non-profit organization also stated in a statement that it expects diesel prices to be between GH18 and GH20 per litre for the first pricing window in November 2022.
Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo stated on Sunday, October 30, that his administration is working hard to bring affordable petroleum to the country in order to help Ghanaians and slow the rampant hikes at the pumps.
“I know that the increasing cost of living is the number one concern for all of us. It is driven by fast-escalating fuel prices at the pumps, caused by high crude oil prices on the world market and our depreciated currency. I know that this is putting intolerable pressure on families and businesses.
“I know that people are being driven to make choices they should not have to make, and I know that it has led to the devaluation of the capital of traders and painfully accumulated savings,’’ he added.
President Akufo-Addo also stated that his administration is working hard to secure reliable and consistent sources of petroleum on the international market. The government is working to secure consistent and reliable supplies of low-cost petroleum products for the Ghanaian market. It is expected that, if successful, this arrangement, combined with a stable currency, will halt the escalation of fuel prices and provide relief to all of us, he added.
Other Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) are expected to raise gasoline prices at the pump as well.
