Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, revealed the results of her genealogy research in the most recent edition of her podcast, the Duchess of Sussex.
The Duchess of Sussex discussed what she had learned with Nigerian-American comedian Ziwe Fumudoh in the eighth episode of ‘Archetypes,’ titled Upending the Angry Black Woman Myth.
Meghan discovered she was half Nigerian, according to her.
“I just had my genealogy done a couple of years ago. I am 43-percent Nigerian,” Meghan said.
“No way! Oh my gosh! Are you really serious?” Ziwe replied.
Despite the fact that she was uncertain of her ancestors’ tribe, the 41-year-old stated that she intended to “start researching deeper into all of this.”
“Anyone that I have told, especially Nigerian women are just like, ‘What?’,” Meghan revealed.
Ziwe, who was shocked at the revelation, explained to the Duchess how this was “huge for our community.”
“No, honestly, you do look like a Nigerian. You look like my aunt Uzo. So this is great!” Ziwe told Meghan
