Mikel Arteta has allayed concerns that Oleksandr Zinchenko may need to spend a significant amount of time recovering from an injury.
Due to a calf issue, the Arsenal star, who was acquired from Manchester City in the summer, hasn’t played since the 3-1 victory over Tottenham on October 1.
Takehiro Tomiyasu is now stepping in at left back for the Gunners because Zinchenko has yet to even resume training.
If Zinchenko’s extended absence was cause for concern, Arteta responded: “I don’t believe so, no. He obviously had a recent calf problem, which is why he was out for this time.” When asked if the defense would return before the World Cup, the Arsenal manager simply said “absolutely.”
Zinchenko will undoubtedly miss the Europa League match against PSV Eindhoven on Thursday night. Gabriel Martinelli, on the other hand, is unwell and is questionable for the game.
On Thursday night, the Gunners play PSV Eindhoven in the Europa League with the knowledge that a victory would ensure their advancement to the competition’s final rounds.
