According to Alfred Schreuder, Mohammed Kudus and Brian Brobbey were not to blame for Ajax’s loss to Napoli; rather, the Serie A team was simply superior. Nevertheless, they bounced back to humiliate Excelsior 7-1 in an Eredivisie match on Sunday at the Johan Cruyff Arena. In the top-flight match, Ghanaian international Mohammed Kudus scored after coming off the bench, and Black Stars hopeful Brian Brobbey scored twice.
Now that Kudus has been used as a striker, Schreuder has defended the move, claiming that the number of goals Kudus has scored this season in all competitions has already established his case.
He has also insisted that Kudus or Brobbey had nothing to do with their loss to Napoli and that the team coached by Luciano Spalletti was simply superior to them.
“If I don’t get the time from Ajax… I couldn’t care less! Then they have to sack me! Mohammed Kudus as a striker… eight goals in eight/nine games,” After the game, Schreuder commented as reported by AFC Ajax Twitter.
“You can’t tell me he’s a bad option as a striker. Losing to Napoli is not about Kudus or Brian [Brobbey]! Napoli just has more quality. “
